The Master Releases A New Video

There's also a live version below of him performing this song in 1994 at a concert in Poland. Some of the band lineup is different - amongst the differences - different lead vocalist and his brother is playing with him(check out the duo in the extended guitar solo). As wonderful as his videos are there is NOTHING like seeing Santana play live - it's akin to a religious experience (if you're religious - if you're not, it's akin to your most perfect experience [of any sort] ever times a billion!).

Enjoy both versions!

Soul Sacrifice - Then and Now

First, the Woodstock version:

Now, a recent version:

Both versions are fabulous because everything Carlos does is over-the-moon fabulous. However, the Woodstock version was "in the moment" and was Santana making his historical debut, showcasing the genius to come. Probably the most intense 10 minutes of musical history.

Video to soothe your soul, awaken your mind and get your booty up and shaking

Very compelling video if you'll look at the images' social, political and humanistic message while blending your soul with the music's soul

A real gem from 1989 with John Lee Hooker

"New" Santana

Picked up this 2-CD set when it came out at the end of June and finally had the chance to listen to it in its entirety. It's "totally groovy" (thought I'd use vernacular from back in that time period. Who am I kidding? I STILL use that phrase) and afforded me a memory trip back to where Santana exploded onto the musical landscape and changed me. This CD rocks because, well, it's Carlos and anything he does rocks. The 40th anniversary of Woodstock DVD is also out and it's worth picking up as well. Some re digitizing has been done and his performance is even better than the one seen on the original VHS set (trust me - I have the original as well as the 40th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition). In any event, some "new" Carlos for one's auditory pleasure.

Santana talks about playing Woodstock and about his new residency at the Hard Rock

Below is a link to an interview Santana did with Tavis Smiley wherein he talks about his residency at the Hard Rock. Do yourself a favor - click on the link and listen to the whole interview - it will definitely be worth your time.

Saturday Afternoon Santana

A few Santana videos for a little mellow (well, except for the last one - it'll make you get up off your posterior and move) Saturday music - don't bother reading the comments from the masses - while some are enlightened, some are just pontificating idiots parading their stupidity. Just turn up your speakers and enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7_4ylE5p-s&feature=related (This is actually the end of Santana's Supernatural Live DVD - with guest performers - stats with a quick photo shoot - then starts playing in a mellowish vibe with the guest line-up Carlos makes a few comments that are the true and the heart of it all - then transcends in jamming, riffing and rocking - quite cool).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qDABcLL59M&NR=1 (Somewhere in Heaven - abslutely beautiful - has some interspersed images of Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis - soothing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmEwePJ4Ypw&NR=1 (Live version of the previous cut - played at the 25th anniversary of Woodstock in 1994 - twice as long at 10 minutes and it gets the second part the previous cut doesn't have. There is some technically difficuly at the end of the cut so be forewarned. Again, will sooth and rock your soul while you watch an amazing performance by the master - he also does some riffing which is cool and the joy on his face is why music speaks to the soul)
