English Professor. AFT (American Federation of Teachers) Vice-President. Academic Senator. CFT (California Federation of Teachers) Civil and Human Rights Committee. CFT Faculty Committee. Activist. Published Writer. The purpose of this blog is, to quote Santana, “because I still live the principles of the 1960s, and because I'm a hippie at heart I invite you to join [my] experience. [I'll] mix up a little practical spirituality with a rebel-from-the-street vibe, and with lots of incredible music. My wish is [it'll be something to move you]to dance, to cry, to laugh and to feel the totality and fullness of being alive. Truly, the only criteria is, is it coming from the heart or not? If it's not coming from your heart, then it's phony baloney, so nobody wants to hear [or read] it. If it's coming from the heart, then it's necessary to be heard [and read], because music [and communication] from the heart doesn't go old, doesn't get dated. It doesn't go in and out, it never grows old, it stays. Just like sex and spirituality -- those things, they never grow old."
